Migraine Headaches Treatment

For those of you suffering through life with migraine headaches, I can honestly say, I understand.  Having suffered my first episode my senior year in high school, I knew right then, this debilitating pain was different and more severe than I had ever experienced. After skipping lunch one fateful day, I decided my last class of the day to purchase a mountain dew soda and Snickers ice cream bar. Half way through the binge, I began to experience a strange visual disturbance in my right eye. It started out quite small, but as the minutes ticked by, the somewhat blind spot began to enlarge into a hemispherical, crescent shape, slowly moving laterally out of my field of vision. After about 20 minutes, this strange visual disappeared, and then IT HIT me. The most severe, debilitating, nauseous, confusing, disorienting sensations overwhelmed me, completely.

Since that initial attack, I started to experience these new types of headaches more often, as many as four times per year. My mother, being a RN, was able to quickly diagnose my condition. She began by apologizing, because she understood that migraine headaches are indeed hereditary in nature, and explained that these are the headaches she deals with on a monthly basis.

It wasn’t until 10 years later that I would ultimately, and fatefully, find a resolution and treatment to these debilitating headaches.

When I enrolled in Chiropractic school, I noticed a significant decrease in the frequency of the migraines. As a matter of fact, I only recall having one episode in almost four years of Chiropractic schooling. The only factor that had changed in my routine of life was the fact that I was receiving Chiropractic adjustments on average of 1-2 times per week during the course of my studies. There will be skeptics out there that may say this was merely a coincidence. My only answer to these skeptics, be they lay persons, or other health care professionals, is: they most likely have NEVER suffered from these debilitating types of headaches, those unfortunate enough to have these types of headaches absolutely KNOW their body best. And when we notice an immediate change or alteration in our episodes, we take careful note to investigate and hopefully repeat whatever it is that has helped decrease, by any margin, our Migraine Headaches. When you are dealing with this caliber of pain, pride is the last barrier you want standing in your way of seeking alternative care and treatment. Dont let any one person discourage you from seeking Chiropractic care if you have yet to try it. It very well may change your very life. Im living proof.
